Can Chess Aid Schools?

The noted educator V. A. Sukhomlinsky wrote: “Chess is an excellent school of consistent logical reasoning. Playing chess organizes thinking, develops concentration, trains memory. Chess should enter the elementary school curriculum as a form of cultura of the mind. We are singling out elementary school, where the intelectual development assumes particular prominence, requiring special types and methods of work”
